Rezept Tacos mit Rinderzunge Bild vom Gericht

When it comes to Mexican cuisine, most people immediately think of tacos. This versatile dish comes in countless varieties and is popular with young and old alike. One particularly delicious and exotic taco recipe is beef tongue tacos, or tacos de lengua de res. It may sound unusual, but the tender and flavorful tongue of beef is a delicacy in many cultures. With the right spices and ingredients, you can turn it into a fantastic dish.

To prepare tacos with beef tongue. Beef tongue is cooked with onions, garlic, bay leaves and cloves in a pressure cooker until tender, then sliced thinly. Together with fresh cilantro, diced onions and lime juice and high quality tortillas, it makes an irresistible combination. And if you like it spicy, you can serve an extra helping of hot sauce on the side. With this recipe, every taco day becomes a highlight!

Preparation of the tacos with beef tongue

  1. Add the onions, garlic clove, black pepper, cloves and bay leaves to a pressure cooker, wash the beef tongue thoroughly and put it in as well.

  2. Add water until the tongue is completely covered. Close the pressure cooker and bring to a boil over high heat. After the first whistle, reduce the heat and cook for another 45 minutes. For the size of tongue shown in the video, about 1:40 total cooking time. Then remove the pressure cooker from the heat and allow to cool. (For normal cooking pots, water must be added and it takes about 3 hours).

  3. Remove the beef tongue from the pressure cooker and let it cool. Dice the onion and sauté in a Teflon pan or cast iron skillet. Thinly slice the cooled beef tongue. Heat oil in a skillet over medium-high heat, add beef tongue and fry for four to eight minutes, stirring occasionally. Season to taste with salt and pepper.

  4. Heat the masamor tortillas on both sides in a Teflon pan or cast iron skillet. Spread the slices of beef tongue on the tortillas and garnish with the sautéed onions and cilantro. Squeeze the limes and drizzle the juice over the tacos.

  5. Add a hot sauce to taste.
