You'll need the following ingredients for approx. 11 tortillas
- 2 Cups Corn Flour (approx. 220g) i.e. Maseca Corn Flour
- 1 2/3 Cups hand-warm Water (approx. 400ml)
- Crepe Pfanne oder Comal / Tortilla Pan
- Tortillero or dry kitchen towels to keep the tortillas warm
- Additionally: a bowl, cling film, freezer bag
Preparation of the Tortillas
Get everything ready. After preparing the mixture, it is important to let it rest for 30 minutes to 1 hour until you process it!
-
Mix / knead in the corn flour and lukewarm water in small increments in the bowl.
-
Continue kneading for 5 minutes until the dough is soft and no longer sticky.
-
Cover dough with plastic wrap, let rest 30 minutes to 1 hour.
-
Form about 10-11 balls from the dough about as long and wide as the little finger of your hands.
-
Place a cut open freezer bag on top of your opened tortilla press and place a ball in your hand slightly flattened beforehand in the center of the bottom of the press.
-
Fold down the top of the press and push the lever of the press towards the top to flatten the tortilla.
-
Carefully take the tortilla out of the freezer bag plastic and place in the heated pan. Turn after 20 seconds, then wait 1 minute and 20 seconds, turn again and wait briefly. Remove the tortilla from the pan when it puffs up and place in a tortillero or folded towel to keep warm while you bake the other tortillas.
Bon appétit!
